SEND-Special Educational Needs and Disability

At Sunflowers our staff are aware that some children have special educational needs and/or physical disabilities that require particular support and assistance. We are commited to taking appropriate action to make sure that all children are able to access our services, made to feel welcome, and that our activities promote their welfare and development. Sunflowers is committed to the integration of all children in its care. Sunflowers believes that children with special educational needs and/or physical disabilities have a right to play, lean and be able to develop to their full potential alongside other children.

We aim to ensure, whenever possible, children with special educational needs and/or physical disabilities will have access to the same facilities, activities and play opportunities as their peers. Activities will be differentiated to meet all individual needs.

As we monitor our children very closely through their Learning Journeys and trackers, we can very quickly identify any areas children may need additional support in and are able to put strategies in to place to aide this. These may include a 2 year check, a TLP (Targeted Learning Plan) or, if necessary, a referral to an outside agency for additional support.
