Stanah Sunflowers
Pre-School
Keypersons and
Learning Journeys
At Sunflowers we have a Keyworker adult system. When your child starts at Sunflowers they will be given a short period of time to settle in. During this time we will allocate your child to a Keyworker adult.
Your child's keyworker will be responsible for your child's Parent/Carer Communication File and your Child's Learning Journey. Our Keyworkers and their Keyworker children are displayed on the large flowers at the entrance of Sunflowers. This helps our children and parent/carers to see who their keyworker adults are.
Keyworkers send home parent/carer communication files at the start of the year. This will include an All About Me book which we ask you to fill in. This gives keyworkers a good starting point for assessing your children. Parent/carer communication files are then sent home fortnightly with details of topics, and activities that are going on at Sunflowers. We also encourage and welcome parents/carers to share their Communication file with any other childcare provider thier child may access. Keyworkers love to recieve comments and photo's back from parent/carers about things their children have done at home.
Keyworkers collect evidence to put in each child's Learning Journey. These may include written observations, photographs and peices of work. These are all assessed in line with the EYFS framework and then next steps are planned from these. Keyworkers plan activities for their individual children weekly, to ensure steady progression is being made. The children are assessed through lots of lovely activities and games so they are unaware they are being assessed. Keyworkers keep a tracker for each child which clearly indicates any areas that need focusing on.
When the children are moving to their new Reception class, keyworkers send a Transition Profile with each child. This includes all the information we have on each child, including where they are up to in the EYFS assessments. It will also include a personal report from your child's keyworker. Parents/carers also recieve a copy of the report and their child's Learning Journey to keep.
